Deal Town A Sevenoaks Town A
Deal Town and Sevenoaks Town will meet again this weekend to replay their Kent Senior Trophy quarter-final following the abandonement of last Saturday’s game at the Oatmor-Harris Stadium.
Deal’s Josh Davidson left the ground in an ambulance after suffering a horrific double leg fracture, thanks to a challenge which merited the afternoon’s third red card.
With the game less than half an hour old, both sides had already been reduced to 10 men with Roy Godden departing for his part in an off-the-ball incident which also saw the visitors lose Tony Webb.
As the sides waited for a corner to be delivered, Webb appeared to elbow Godden, who in turn stamped on Webb, leaving referee Kevin Welsh no option but to dismiss the pair.
Up to that point, the game had failed to spark as both sides cancelled each other out, but the afternoon was suddenly soured as Sevenoaks’ Joe Minter launched himself at Davidson, who was left in agony on the floor.
Minter was shown a straight red card and the crack of Davidson’s bones was heard around the ground. Even once the ambulance had arrived to take him to Margate Hospital, paramedics took a further 30 minutes to ensure no further damage was done.
Initial fears that the blood circulation to Davidson’s feet would be cut off were soon eased but the defender remains in hospital and is certain to face a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
Both sides are already playing catch-up on those around them and next Saturday’s scheduled league fixtures have now been switched to accommodate the cup tie.
Deal are in action tomorrow (Tuesday) night as they entertained Faversham Town in the Kent League, looking to extend their five-game unbeaten run.
