KENT NEWS:

After a host of computing problems that have plagued this year’s Big Day Out, Visit Kent has changed the application process for booking free tickets for the event on Saturday, March 27.

Instead of booking tickets online, after twice suffering serious computing problems, tickets will now be allocated by a ballot.

Anyone who wants to register for tickets can do until 5pm today (Monday, March 8.)

To enter, you must complete an online form with your five-top choice destinations as well as an option for a lucky dip should the first five choices not be successful.

These requests will be entered into a ballot and ticket vouchers emailed to successful applicants ahead of the event.

There are more than 16,000 free tickets available to residents for 120 of the county’s top attractions and visitor experiences.

Details of the participating attractions and venues, as well as the online sign up form, is available at www.kentbigdayout.co.uk.

“This has been seriously frustrating and very disappointing for everyone,” said Sandra Matthews-Marsh, chief executive at Visit Kent.

“But in tourism, leisure and hospitality we have a reputation for refusing to be defeated.

“We are asking everyone who would like to take part in the Kent Big Day Out 2010 to fill in a simple online form with their details and the attractions they would like to visit over the weekend.

“These applications will be processed via a ballot and tickets emailed to the successful applicants.”

Anyone without access to the internet can go to their local visitor information centre to complete their ballot form.
