Sub-zero temperatures have left much of Kent’s roads and pavements treacherous this morning as the remains of the snow turned to ice.

The Met Office has another ice warning in place - and warns it is set to get even colder tonight.

With temperatures reaching as low as minus four over night - it is set to plunge to minus eight this evening with warning there may even be some snow flurries too.

Motorists are urged to take extra care on the roads, and pedestrians to be wary of slippery pavements.

The Met Office said: “There will be isolated wintry showers around at first, mainly to the north of London, will die away this morning leaving generally large amounts of cloud. However this afternoon will be bitterly cold but drier and sunny conditions will reach Kent and perhaps Sussex.

“Very cold and clear conditions already across the east will spread to remaining areas. Widespread frost, locally severe. Later patchy cloud and very light snow flurries may arrive. Minimum temperature -8°C.”
