Preston Edwards saved a penalty in a stilted first half, but Liam Daish’s side seized control after the break to run out comfortable winners. The game swung on two swift counter-attacks early in the second half, with Pinney teeing up Liam Enver-Marum for the opener before scoring the second himself. The Crystal Palace loanee grabbed a second goal with a deflected shot late on as the Fleet stayed in 14th place, 12 points ahead of the bottom four.

It was also a good night for Dartford, who came from behind to win 4-1 at Staines Town. Tom Bonner scored an equaliser on the stroke of half-time and the visitors went on to dominate in the second half with goals from Connor Essam, playing his last game on loan before returning to Gillingham, Danny Harris and Adam Green.

The result took the Darts up to second in Conference South, 11 points behind leaders Woking with two games in hand.

Herne Bay showed no signs of tiredness from their long trip to Newcastle in the FA Vase last weekend as they swept past Erith & Belvedere 4-0. Tom Parker scored two penalties to help set up a 7-1 aggregate victory which put the side into the Premier Division Cup semi-finals.

Margate gave Charlton Athletic a fright in the Kent Senior Cup, only going down 4-3 to an 88th minute winner from Ade Azeez. The Addicks are joined in the semi-finals by Dover Athletic, who beat Welling United at Crabble thanks to goals from Harry Baker and Agustin Battipiedi.
